TEACHER (READING SPECIALIST)

Responsibilities

Teach I Can Read Literacy courses:

  • Working with children between the ages of 2.5 to 12 years old
  • Teaching pre-reading skills to children using the I Can Read system
  • Teaching reading and comprehension skills using the I Can Read system
  • Conducting ad hoc replacement lessons and one-to-one lessons
  • Teaching I Can Read affiliated programmes
  • Teaching writing skills, including grammar, editing and publishing
  • Teaching oral presentation and communication skills
  • Helping children develop social skills and positive classroom behaviour
  • Using I Can Read’s positive reinforcement for classroom management
  • Fulfilling at least one Duty Day per week 

Conduct Assessments: 
  • Conducting initial assessments for all prospective students
  • Regularly assessing students during classes to monitor individual progress
  • Working alongside the assessment team to ensure smooth running of open house events
  • Discussing with parents the assessment outcomes, advising the most suitable course for their child and explaining I Can Read’s methodology 


    Communication:
  • Maintaining regular open communication with parents, through informal, formal and scheduled parent-teacher meetings. In addition, communication may also be via email and phone calls using the centre’s computer/phone in agreement with the Operations Manager 
  • Keeping attendance logs for all classes taught and updating the Operations Management when a student is ready for promotion
  • Attending regular Learning Centre Team meetings; this may also include taking of meeting minutes
  • Updating progress sheets, complete term reports and Accident and Incident reports as required


    Contribute to Student Growth and Retention: 
  • Increasing sign-ups through competently conducted assessments
  • Maximising and maintaining high student retention rates through effective delivery of the I Can Read pedagogy and regular updates to the parents


    Any other duties:
  • Conducting ad hoc parent-teacher meetings and briefings
  • Attending additional training if and when required
  • Assisting with ad hoc duties
  • Completing centre academic audits if required
  • Updating the Learning Centre Team on any damages within the centre
  • Helping the centre team to keep classrooms tidy and stocked with the required materials and stationery


    Requirements:
  • Degree-level qualifications, preferably in Teaching/Education/Early Childhood/Studies/English/English Literature or Linguistics

  • Diploma-level qualifications must be in a relevant field such as Teaching/Education/Early Childhood Studies/English Language/English Literature or Linguistics
  • English speaker with a universally recognisable accent and a strong command of the English Language
  • At least two years of related teaching experience, or similar
  • An enthusiasm for teaching young children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work well with co-teachers, and Learning Centre Management
  • The ability to operate with a high level of integrity and professionalism

ASSISTANT DISTRICT MANAGER

Responsibilities: 
  • To provide leadership to all learning centres under your remit; managing centre staff and teachers; including team motivation, mitigating and resolving conflict, providing guidance where needed
  • To frequently liaise and relay information between company headquarters and centres
  • To oversee operational practices, ensuring each centre is meeting the projected KPI’s
  • Coordinate with, report and make recommendations to the Country Director in order to improve centre performance and customer experience
  • Ensure the profitability of our projects in compliance with our business practices
  • Conduct employ evaluations with our Operations Management team and provide feedback
  • Assist with any other ad hoc duties

Requirements: 
  • A Diploma in Business Studies/Administration/Management or higher
  • Relevant work experience within the education, hospitality or retail industries

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • The ability to take initiative and solve problems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills

HUMAN RESOURCE EXECUTIVE

PPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Recruitment
  • Maintain partnerships with outsourcing agencies as well as researching, establishing and maintaining the pipeline for all internal and external sourcing channels
  • Understand the manpower requisition requirements and work alongside the Department Manager to draft Job Descriptions and establish implementation plans
  • Track and monitor candidates’ progress as they advance through the recruitment and deployment process
  • Communicate the employment status to candidates
  • Complete background checks/ verification of shortlisted candidates
  • Maintain and update the database of the candidates 
Onboarding and Induction of New Employees
  • Conduct the HR onboarding, which includes signing of the Employment Agreement, a company orientation, welcome to the company Directors and colleagues at HQ and other ad hoc responsibilities associated with the orientation
  • Complete the filing of relevant documents of the new employee 
Compliance (of company HR Policies)
  • Ensure internal HR procedural and policy compliance with all partners including Franchisees, Learning Centre Support, etc.
  • Maintain all HR files for inspection by auditors
  • Ensure company policies are line with government laws and regulations
  • Review and update the employee handbook and existing policies and procedures
Statutory Compliance
  • Follow up of confirmation records statutory obligations e.g. CPF, Tax, SDL, Bonus
  • Ensure that leave entitlement is in line with MOM rules and regulations
  • Communicate with government sector when necessary 
Day to Day duties
  • Maintain and organise all confidential employee databases, files, and paperwork
  • Prepare and submit all relevant HR letters / documents / certificates as per the requirement of employees
  • Track of the usage of MHC card and apply new MHC card for new employees
  • Handle insurance-related issues
Payroll Management and Preparation
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absence, employment date, leave, etc.)
  • Process payroll in a timely manner for distribution of salary, bonus, increment salary slip, leave encashment and full and final settlements
  • Full spectrum of payroll processing for part-time employees
  • Prepare necessary documents for the finance and HR report after payroll has been processed
  • Generate IR8A on a yearly basis
  • Prepare full and final settlement for exiting employees, including tax clearance 
Employee Relations
  • Conduct workplace inquiries and prepare summary/findings of fact reports and recommendations
  • Facilitate conflict resolution between parties and make recommendations to resolve issues by using judgment consistent and compliant with standards, practices, policies, procedures and laws
  • Monitor attendance and leave of employees through the ISupersuite system
  • Calculate Leave brought-forward and forfeiture after the financial year
  • Track employee turnover


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Special Events and Projects
  • Organising of social events/activities and other initiatives which may be implemented for Employee morale, examples include our end of year party 
Ad hoc duties
  • Includes but not limited to, assist in booking of flights and hotels
  • Check travel and tour expenses, update records for timely credit of the amount to the relevant party
  • Assist training of new colleagues within the department

Requirements: 
  • Tertiary qualifications, at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in any field
  • Has relevant prior human resources experience, at least one year of experience
  • Preferably Junior Executives specializing in Human Resources or equivalent
  • Able to operate with a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Has excellent organisational and implementation skills
  • Is analytical with good problem-solving skills
  • Has the ability to work independently, to think critically and strategically
  • Needs to be familiar with the full suite of ICR operating system and processes (training will be provided)
